The Google Career Certificate program is an online training program that offers professional certificates in high-paying technology fields. The program is designed by Google and taught by experts in the areas of IT, user experience design, project management, and more, and combines skills training with hands-on practice. In addition, job seekers receive support and practical tips for resumes, interviews, and job searches, helping them to land jobs in the technology sector.
Google Career Certificates are completely online, so there’s no need to show up to a classroom in person. You can access your instructional videos, readings and assignments anytime and anywhere via the web or your mobile device.
Career resources are available to Certificate graduates including interview tips, mock interviews and resume building tools, coaching sessions, and more.
In the U.S. and Canada, the subscription cost is $49 USD per month after an initial 7-day free trial period. Both Google Career Certificates and Google Career Essentials are completely self-paced. Many learners complete their Certificate in three to six months and their Essentials course within one month.

Yes! Google Career Certificates are recognized by more than 150 employers in the U.S., including companies like Deloitte and Verizon. Certificates help graduates stand out to recruiters and interviewers–in fact, 75 percent of program graduates report an improvement in their career within six months of certificate completion². And, by completing a Google Career Certificate, students can earn a recommendation for up to 12 college credits, the equivalent of four undergraduate courses.
Google Career Certificates were designed and built by subject-matter experts and senior practitioners at Google from each of the job fields. Every certificate has been created to equip learners with theoretical and practical knowledge and real-life problem-solving skills to be successful in an entry-level job. Industry Specializations are a collection of partner-built online programs that provide learners with additional expertise and skills for jobs in specific industries after they complete a Google Career Certificate. There are currently five Industry Specializations:
Construction Management, developed by Columbia Engineering
Data Analytics in the Public Sector with R, developed by the University of Michigan
Financial Analysis - Skills for Success, developed by University of Illinois’ Gies College of Business
Healthcare IT Support, developed by Johns Hopkins University
Sustainability Analyst Fundamentals, developed by Arizona State University
The Industry Specializations are available globally in English on Coursera.
With a suggested pace of 10 hours of study per week, the Industry Specializations can be completed in one to two months.
If you are interested in financial assistance for Industry Specializations, you may be eligible for financial aid via Coursera through the course page. Recipients of financial aid will have full access to course content and assignments required to earn a certificate. To apply, go to the specialization course page on Coursera and click the “Financial aid available” link next to the “Enroll” button.
The Specializations cost $49 per month by subscription on Coursera. Google gets no revenue from these programs. Learners can access financial assistance via Coursera.
Organizations interested in applying to develop an Industry Specialization can fill out the Interest Form. Once submitted, Google will review the information and follow up.
