Grow with Google Winnipeg brought more than 500 local business owners and entrepreneurs together at the Manitoba Museum for a full day of digital skills workshops. Attendees were eager to meet one-on-one with Google staff as well as representatives from 11 community organizations, each committed to helping local businesses grow using digital tools.
As part of the event, Google for Small Business was launched in Canada. The new website delivers a free personalized plan, with suggested digital tools to try, to reach more customers and work more efficiently.
And Winnipegers don’t have to look far for examples of success. Grow with Google Winnipeg was a chance to highlight Manitobah Mukluks and SkipTheDishes, both local cases that show what's possible when you combine entrepreneurialism and the power of technology.
Ahead of the event (November 7), Google engineers visited three Grade 5 and 6 classrooms to lead CS First by Google activities. In the coming months, 70 educators in the Winnipeg area will be trained to reach even more young learners. For the business community, a $125k Google.org grant will support the Winnipeg Chapter of Canada Learning Code as their team delivers 100 hours of in-person digital skills training for local entrepreneurs.
Missed Grow with Google Winnipeg? The workshops (from the morning session) were livestreamed and recorded, and available to watch back here.
