Scott | Google Data Analytics Certificate Graduate

Scott from Newcastle in NSW was an electrician for 14 years before completing a maths degree majoring in statistics. He found this wasn’t quite enough to help him land the job he wanted and needed further practical skills. The Google Career Certificate program made his resume stand out to employers, which helped him land his first data analytics job.

He completed the course within just 5 weeks studying full-time, which is much quicker than the average (3-6 months part-time). This was impressive, managing it around his other responsibilities like having a family at home. At his age, Scott said he found applying for jobs harder than when he was younger. He’d encourage anyone in a similar position to take the leap to upskill and go after the job of their dreams.

Scott’s previous career had helped him develop problem solving skills and he just needed to learn how to apply them in a different way. He landed a job as a data analyst in an agribusiness start up after completing the program and since moved on to an even more senior role.
