Get Started

Job-Ready skills you can put to work

Each program is designed to put you on a fast track to jobs in high-growth fields, even if you have no prior experience. In less than six months, you’ll get the training you need to start your new career.

Our IT Support Certificate was the first certificate we offered and it quickly became the top professional certificate program on Coursera, after being completed by thousands of people.

We now offer four different certificates and we’re continuing to expand the program to create more pathways into more fast-growing, high-paying fields for those who are looking to make a change and begin a new career.

The Certificates

As part of the Google Career Certificates, you’ll engage with a dynamic mix of hands-on labs and other interactive assessments, all developed by Google employees. A degree from a post-secondary education program isn’t a requirement to enroll.

The Google IT Support Professional Certificate introduces you to troubleshooting, customer service, networking, operating systems, system administration, and security — all the fundamentals of IT support that are critical for success in the workplace.

The Google IT Automation with Python Professional Certificate builds on your IT foundations to help you take your career to the next level. This program teaches you in-demand skills like programming in Python, using Git, advanced troubleshooting, and IT automation techniques.

The Google Data Analytics Professional Certificate introduces you to the world of data analytics and how to collect, transform, and organize data in order to help make informed business decisions. You'll develop in-demand data analytics skills using spreadsheets, SQL, Tableau, R, and more.

The Google Project Management Professional Certificate introduces you to project management artifacts and skill sets for planning, organizing and running projects so they can be delivered on time and on budget. You'll discover how to manage projects efficiently and effectively, using traditional and agile methods.

The Google UX Design Professional Certificate introduces you to the foundations of the design process, including empathizing with users, building wireframes and prototypes, and conducting research to test your designs. You’ll understand how to make digital and physical products that are easier and more enjoyable to use.

The Google Digital Marketing & E-commerce Professional Certificate introduces you to the fundamentals of managing digital marketing campaigns, attracting and engaging customers, and selling products. The certificate will teach you how to use popular digital marketing and e-commerce tools like Shopify, Mailchimp, Twitter, Google Ads and more.

Krys Lenek
Technical Customer Experience Agent at TELUS Health
Calgary, Alberta

After receiving a scholarship with NPower Canada, Krys completed the Google IT Support Professional Certificate, and then landed an IT role at TELUS Health. He wanted to start a career for a better life for his family, and heard about the program through a friend. He was nervous to jump into it with no prior experience in IT, but quickly discovered that the program was made for people like him, and was able to quickly develop the skills needed to succeed in an IT role. The journey of diving into something completely new and succeeding showed him what he’s capable of. He says, “going through the course, it wasn’t just learning about IT, but learning about confidence in what you can do.”

More opportunities for everyone

Education and technology are keys to opportunity, but so are equity and access.

To support access to the Google Career Certificates, we’ve  provided a Google.org grant to NPower Canada to deliver Google Career Certificate programs and deploy 5,000 scholarships.

These scholarships are distributed through NPower Canada, in collaboration with youth and workforce development non-profits like Indspire, Pathways to Education, Toronto Public Library, and the YMCA, focusing on Canadians from underserved communities. Those interested in applying for a scholarship can do so here.

Since 2021, NPower Canada has guided scholarship recipients through the program, providing ongoing wraparound support and the skills needed to be job-ready upon completion.

Ruchita Desai
Projects Control Officer at a Canadian Big 5 Bank
Toronto, Ontario

Ruchita moved to Canada from India a few years ago. She had a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and a master’s degree in urban planning. However, upon moving to Canada, she was unable to find a job that related to her qualifications and had to look for other career options. Ruchita could see the potential in the growing tech field and saw it as a place where she could make an immediate impact. As a scholarship recipient, NPower Canada supported her learning journey and she completed both the IT and Project Management Google Career Certificates. After going through the journey of a career shift by taking these courses, she says, “the job search that was once difficult, became filled with opportunity.”

Célian Lefèvre
IT Business Relationship Manager at L’Oréal Canada
Montreal, Québec

Célian always had a passion for tech, but he was working in a completely different field. He had some background in computer science, and participated in tech related activities, but didn’t have practical knowledge to pursue it as a career. Upon hearing about the Google IT Support Professional Certificate, he realized he could learn the fundamentals of IT to round out his skillset and take a leap into a field he’s passionate about. He completed the certificate while working full-time and supporting his small children at home. He says, “working in the same field for 10 years, some people settle into it. But if you put energy and passion into something new, you can do it.”
