Grow with Google Saskatoon

Event Details

  • Saskatoon, Saskatchewan
  • WTC at Prairieland Park
  • November 15, 2019

From real estate agents to hairstylists, restaurant owners to personal trainers, more than 800 attendees of all kinds joined us at Prairieland Park, making Grow with Google Saskatoon our biggest event yet.

“Today’s Grow with Google event was a great opportunity for local businesses, job seekers, students and aspiring entrepreneurs to learn how to leverage technology as a tool of empowerment,” said Mayor Charlie Clark. “When we think about what Saskatoon needs to succeed, access to digital skills is one area, and we need to work together with partners to see growth in our city.”

Between workshops, everyone snacked on local treats and were inspired by the stories of Saskatoon businesses like Prairie Proud. The casual wear company operates both online and with a storefront location, leveraging Google Analytics and Google My Business to connect with customers and to provide the best possible retail experience.

For younger learners, the Google team visited Westmount Community School to lead Grade 5 students through CS First activities (November 14). In the coming months, 35 teachers in the Saskatoon area will be trained to deliver the program to their present and future classrooms.

Grow with Google resources for small businesses will also continue to be available in Saskatoon after the event. The community organizations that were onsite and enrolled in the Grow with Google Partner Program now have access to training material that complements and expands on the content covered throughout the day. And, as part of a $125k grant, Canada Learning Code’s Saskatoon Chapter will deliver over 100 hours of in-person training, covering fundamental topics like website management and introductory coding.
